GENERAL INFORMATION
The music taught in the classes will be taught aurally, using the centuries
old traditional method of learning by ear, although the written music
is available to students at the end.
The course content will be a mix of traditional dance music, marches,
Carolan tunes, airs and pieces, paying attention to rhythm and ornamentation.
Although Paul plays a metal strung harp, the music in his classes is suitable
for all small harp types, with the exception of the 10.00-11.15 class
on Sunday 12th, which is directed specifically at metal-strung harpers.

Catherine
Rhatigan has been teaching for more than 20 years and has a strong
repertoire of authentic tunes from which to choose in her classroom; something
that is often appreciated by students seeking to vary and widen their
repertoire. She has given workshops in Ireland, Europe and the US. Her
strong piano playing background influences her fluent arrangements and
accompaniments. She is particularly interested in the older music of Ireland,
and has written several stage pieces for musical theatre, including one
on the history of the harp in Ireland. www.irelandharp.net
Paul
Dooley spent 10 years researching the Ab Huw manuscripts, solving
in the process, some of the great mysteries of the music that have puzzled
scholars for centuries. He has taught and lectured in harp at all the
major harp schools, most recently at the well known Willie Clancy Summer
School, and the Edinburgh Harp Festival. A fine fiddle player too, his
aquaintance with the fiddle repertoire of Ireland has certainly helped
to establish him as one of the finest and most authentic interpreters
of this music on the small harp, as well as a sophisticated exponent of
the other music forms in the Celtic genre. www.pauldooley.com
